About Me
Hey there! I’m Tom, a learning designer with a talent for crafting accessible, engaging, and impactful online courses. I partner with college faculty to build accessible online learning experiences that drive success. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Northridge, and a master’s in Learning Design and Technology from the University of San Diego (Torero time!). I’m certified by the Los Angeles Community College District to teach online via Canvas LMS, and I’ve earned a couple handfuls of California Community College online learning badges focused on accessibility.
My passion for education, creativity, and technology fuels my work in learning design. Blending these interests allows me to create inclusive, effective content that helps others thrive. I’m a curious lifelong learner, always diving into new knowledge to stay sharp in my field. For me, empowering others to learn is a privilege I never take for granted.
Outside my profession, I’m a hobby enthusiast with more interests than Santa has toys. From CAD and 3D printing to woodworking, flying RC aircraft, modifying sports cars, snowboarding, backpacking, and beyond, I live for and with creativity, passion, and adventure. That photo up top? That’s me soaking in the epic view from North Dome overlooking Half Dome in Yosemite (sweaty, fulfilled, and feeling like a million buckaroonies). What a view! I live life passionately, love to joke and have fun, and I make the best of the time I have on this planet.

My Mission
As a learning designer, I specialize in creating engaging and effective learning experiences for a diverse range of learners, from students in middle school to adults in higher education and corporate settings. By blending educational theory with technology, I design content that is accessible, inclusive, and impactful. I collaborate with college faculty and staff to build customized online courses (via Canvas LMS) and training materials that align with learning outcomes, while also applying my skills to a variety of educational contexts like hosting online/in-person seminars and writing in newsletters for college faculty and staff. Whether working at academic institutions or in corporate training programs, my goal is to empower learners and educators alike by developing learner-centered solutions that promote growth and success.
